MY REGULARS…
Ok so…I’ve been in the bar biz a long time…I was in high school when I landed my first bar tending gig… it was at a biker bar in my hometown called The Popular… Another story for another time….Anyway, my favorite part of the job has always been getting to know the regulars… I could listen to story after story while I was pouring drink after drink. I learned so much about people… I was always a good judge of character, but tending bar all those years gave me a deeper insight… I am fascinated by how people have gotten to where they are… Their real story…the truth…
Now, Flaming Saddles has brought me a new bunch of regulars, a new breed of patron, with all new stories… I sit and chat with the men in my bar, every day… I am fascinated by the lives of these men, the path they have taken , the actions and reactions that have brought them to today…
David, a man from the south explains that there were only 350 people in his hometown… He told me how he was the only gay man around… He left home very young, and came to the city with hopes of being accepted…
Kris went to the prom with his high school sweetheart a girl he was sure he was in love with…until the realization he had a crush on a boy in his geometry class, sadness overwhelms him to this day as he remembers his
girlfriends face when he told her he was gay… Bill who’s own Mother encouraged him to get out… Run Bill be happy… My mother saved my life he says…
Theses are the stories I hear everyday… These are stories of
truth, courage and fearlessness. These are the stories that make Flaming
Saddles…
